I just finished reading HOW TO BLOG YOUR BOOK by NINA AMIR ,what a book ! What a source of inspiration,I am going to blog my book and my play both inspired by the life and music of Maria Callas.

SING OR DIE!

The year was 1945, the war was over, I longed to see Father and America, the land of Plenty.

I loved Elvira, but have my own mind


 I sailed back to New York,two years of agony,no money,no jobs,in Greece they called me the American ,in New York where I was born and grew up, they called the Greek,or Fatsa .

I met Louise Caselotti a voice coach and singer looking for work,her husband Eddie Bagarozy,a lawyer-impresario,it was salvation,home away from home,I was there first thing in the morning,practised all day,was dead broke so they offered me lunch and dinner,at midnight I walked home,from Riverside Drive to 157th Street,a forty minutes walk.
There I met and auditioned for Giovanni Zenatello,artistic director of the Verona Opera
He knew I was desperate,so offered a beggar's contract,$ 60.00 a night,four performances,had to be there four weeks in advance for rehearsals,no incidental expenses,had to pay for my trip and living expenses in Verona and 10 % of my fees to Bagarozy my impresario.
I had no choice,SING OR DIE .
In Verona ,on my very first night ,I met a man twenty eight years older than I was,it was love at first sight ,with Elvira and Mother he was the man behind the Callas Phenomenon.

I believe in all things psychic,life after life,in the spirit world where we all go after this life.Tita Meneghini was
 my Destiny.
