NEVER, EVER SHALL I FORGET

 NEVER, EVER SHALL I  FORGET
2 February 1958

A month ago,the greatest scandal in the history of Music.
They are out to destroy, surprised they haven't already done it,it's a game,it's fun ,a human target.
I offer to sing my remaining Normas,no answer, had flown in Anita Cerquetti to replace me,all my contracts in Italy were cancelled, for our own security we took refuge in Sirmione.
All this would not have happened had I been Italian.Jealousy, prejudice and hatred always

TO BE BEAUTIFUL

LILY FROM ROMANIA
 February 1954
Was desperate to loose weight,to be beautiful, false friends said that loosing weight will cause voice loss,I didn't listen, Norma,Lucia,Medea and Violetta motivated me,it's ridiculous to weight one hundred kilos and be a Courtisane.Had a tapeworm that was the cause of my Inferno, blood poisoning.Poor digestion and elimination  were the causes of chronic fatigue,my mental fog and mood swings.First heard of Lilly in 1949,the year I met the three musketeers,Titta,Ferruccio and Serafin.
Born in Bucarest, came to Italy after the war,set her business under the historic Monteverchia stone bridge, near the Arena, where she read the Tarot and sold her herbal preparations. Her own grandmother was a famed psychic back home.

--- I heard good things from my dresser, told me you work with herbs.Want to lose weight can you help ?.I don't want to lose my voice,I am a singer
--- I know you,the singer from America. You have power and your voice is different,I listen to everyone every night,I have the best seat, and it's free.
--- Can you help me ?
--- Sure I can, first you need to get rid of the toxins .You will loose weight, improve your circulation, will have more energy.Your skin will clear up,I do my best, come back in three weeks.
I was busy, forgot about her, finally made it after four years

--- You again ?
--- You remember me,I was busy
--- Your problems didn't go away, what do you want now ?
--- The same things,can I come back in a few weeks ?.

I came back,I was determined to be woman. She gave me a glass container.

----Take it everyday,as often as you like,it's food, everything is local.

It was home made, bought six bottles,it worked,a miracle ! Came back for more.

--- Thank you,tell me.
--- Usually I don't,the competition, the jealousy, from you I have no fear.Keep it confidential,it's my bread and butter,my living. It's fresh parsley with garlic, ginger, red cayenne pepper finely chopped and marinated in pure olive oil,I keep it under the sun for ten days,it activated the ingredients.
---It tasted good, loved it on Italian bread all day, every day. After two months got rid of the toenia worm, the culprit of my problems, it poisoned my whole body, had more energy, clear thinking and complexion .I lost weight naturally, the fat just melted.
-- Of course, the garlic asphyxiated the beast, came out on its own to breathe,to survive, cayenne and ginger
improve your circulation, parsley is for energy, full of vitamins, minerals.Everything is natural from my backyard.Lily was the unsung heroine of the Callas legend, kept her secret till she was no more, could hardly believed she was past eighty when we met, looked twenty years longer. She was a miracle worker.

ROMA 2 JANUARY 1958

THE GREATEST SCANDAL IN THE HISTORY OF MUSIC

I shall never forget.
They are out to destroy, surprised that I am still alive and well.
I offer to sing my remaining Normas,no answer, had flown in Anita Cerquetti to replace me,all my contracts in Italy were cancelled, for our own safety we took refuge in Sirmione.
All this would not have happened had I been Italian.Jealousy, prejudice and hatred always.
 I shall never forget
To make it worse Anita had the shortest career ever, lost her voice, retired in her twenties, so they called me the witch, I cast a spell on my  young rival.

After a few days I felt better and offered to sing the remaining two nights of my contract, they were not interested , said they could guaranty protection and sec

SIRMIONE MI AMORE

SIRMIONE:MEMORIES OF HAPPY DAYS
I have so much nostalgia for Sirmione, lived there the happiest days years of my life. Our castle faces Lake Garda, during the tourist season people flock to town for its Roman ruins, the lake and La Callas. They had their own olive grove, the most fragrant oil  and the best in the world, I love it,had them send me a case when I need it after moving to Paris.Paradise on earth, the perfect place to live and rest, Tita and I lived there the happiest days of our lifes. When in Sirmione I do what  the tourists do,enjoy the Lake and the Spa,sailing, swimming, and beauty treatments.La Dolce Vita, for us it was convenient ,less than two hours from Milan, and close to Verona where our hearts met.
Tita bought the eighteen century  castle for me,otn eighteenth century, had enormous flower beds with gorgeous white and red roses,an apple and pear tree orchard ,Lily's herb garden with parsley, garlic, all sorts of  herbs, our cook Consuelo didn't manage to grow red cayenne pepper. At that stage of my life it was the best summer resort, small but not too small, the visitors and the people of Sirmione respected our privacy, never asked for autograph or pose for them.I love them for that.

ALICE MUNRO BORN JULY 10, 1931

The Nobel Prize for literature is known for refusing to bow to the most popular genres or national literatures. It appears to have something of a bias against Americans, even though their novels, like their movies, are influential in every country. It doesn’t necessarily go to writers who are globally known. In venerating short stories, it is doing what it did with Italian performance art and French-Mauritian essays and Swedish poetry; it is taking a stance, defiantly promoting the obscure, the regional and the specialized. Let’s hope this honour, and its attendant celebrity-worship, will bring a vast new audience not just to a Canadian writer but also to an intricate, puzzling and hugely rewarding art form.

How to Blog a Book
Hi Dave
Most bloggers simply blog. Day in and day out, they write their posts and publish them in Cyberspace. They produce a lot of content, but as one post after another pile up in front of the last, the older ones get lost in a deep dark blog hole. There they remain.
They don't book their blogs. They don't blog a book. They just blog.
You are smarter than most bloggers, though.
How do I know this? You signed up for this mailing list--recently or a long time ago. (You have gotten my general writing emails from CopyWright Communications, but I haven't specifically contacted the "book bloggers"...not until now.)
I'm not sure if you are actually blogging a book or not. I hope you are. If so, list it here:http://howtoblogabook.com/list-your-book/
So many people continue calling themselves aspiring writers rather than published writers because they think writing a book must be a long, drawn out process. Or they feel overwhelmed by the idea of writing a book. Indeed, completing a manuscript can seem like a big goal to accomplish.
In fact, you can write a book in a month-or less. I wrote one in ten days. You definitely can write one in six months or a year-or less. I wrote one in five months. And you can do so by writing for as little as 30-60 minutes a day.
Not only that, you can do so while getting your writing read-possibly by more readers in a day or in a month than the average book sells in a year.
How is that possible? While the average book today sells a measly 250-300 copies per year or 3,000 copies in its lifetime, a blog that is reasonably successful can have 300-3,000 readers per day.
Plus, the majority of bloggers write a post a day or more. By writing and publishing your book one post at a time on the Internet, you can not only get it written in record time, but you can get it read as well.
If, for example, you write 250 words per day just four days per week, you will produce 1,000 words per week. That's four thousand words per month. In 12 months, you'll have written a 42,000-word book. That's not a long book, but it's a decent length for the first draft of your book.
If you write more often, you will produce more words in less time; the same is true if you increase you word count just a bit. Let's say you average 350 words per blog post and write five days per week. That's a 45,500 book in 6 months. You can determine how fast you complete your blogged book, but it doesn't take a large time commitment time per day.
My first draft of How to Blog a Book was only 26,300 words. I completed it in five months writing 3-4 days per week and averaging about 350 words per post. By the time you edit and revise, your book may grow. Mine more than doubled in word count.
If a long book puts you off, write a short one. You can write a series of posts and turn that into an ebook or a booklet, for example. My book, 10 Days and 10 Ways to Return to Your Best Self: A T'shuvah Tool Bridging Religious Traditions, is based on 10 blog posts I wrote during the Jewish High Holy Days. Consider writing a 15-30 post blogged book if that feels easier to start out. Problogger author and blogger Darren Rowse's bestselling product, an ebook called 30 Days to a Better Blog, is based on 30 posts he wrote consecutively--a series.
How long will writing a post take you? That depends upon how quickly you write. For most people, a 250-word post takes about 30-45 minutes to compose. If you spend a fair amount of time editing, maybe it will take you an hour. You might want to add in a photo, too; this can be a bit time consuming. And you must take time to actually publish your post. However, I'd say if you really try to stick to under 500 words and don't become a perfectionist, you can do this in an hour or less. Keep in mind your blogged book is the first draft of your book, not the finished product. This will help you write and post quickly. The point an "installment" written and published on line regularly.
Here's the basic process:
  1. Determine if your book is viable, meaning marketable.
  2. Map out your book's content.
  3. Come up with a content plan or table of contents.
  4. Break the contents down into posts-sized pieces (250-500 words).
  5. Write in post-sized bits on a manageable schedule; create a manuscript at the same time as posting on line.
  6. Each time you write, publish your posts.
In this way you will quickly and easily get your book written. You'll turn into a published author before you know it. If your book is of interest to many people, your blog will attract readers easily. It might also attract an agent or publisher if you garner enough readers, which means you could end up with a blog-to-book deal in the process of blogging your book as well.
If you've been reading my blog for a while, you know all this, though. The questions still remains: Are you blogging a book? If not, why?
If you feel like you need some support getting you book blogged, check out my blog-to-book coaching services. I offer private coaching and group coaching. You can work with me 1-1 so you get your book blogged--FAST! Or,I have a small group coaching sessions. (You must know how to blog, have a blog and be familiar with the process to some extent; reading my book is advised.) The group allows you to learn with and from others.
In the meantime, I hope you'll get moving on your blogged book (or booked blog), if you haven't already. Let me know if you need help in any form (editing, design, ghostblogging, proofreading, coaching, etc.). I'm hear to serve you.
Until next time, go blog a book...and Achieve More Inspired Results,

I LOST MY VOICE

I lost my voice because I did not get enough sex from Titta nor from Ari , had early menopause, over-used drugs, had a sex change operation, crash diet and phenomenal weight loss.Whatever the reasons my career was over when I was 40, I could have sung magnificently for another ten, twenty years.
You want to know the reason, I could no longer put my heart into my music,I wanted to fulfil my life as a woman have a child with the man I love.

THE BEGINNINGS :MARIA TRIVELLA

MADAME  TRIVELLA.
Alone tonight,Ari is on another cruise with the Churchills, somewhere in the Caribbean, can't sleep, working on my Memoirs, had an offer from a  Parisian publisher ,20% to the ghost writer, thanks but no thanks I can write on my own .
Maria Trivella's name popped up last night, treated her badly, was my first teacher in Athens, auditioned in the summer of 1937 ,sang something, can't remember what :

--- This is talent,a star in embryo she said to Mother
Madame Trivella  was generous to a fault, for two years taught for free singing, stage acting and French, was fluent in the language
--- It  comes handy, when you sing Carmen and Juliette, all the French repertoire, whatever people say when you know the language, you are more expressive.
Born on the island of Lesbos, had lived four years in Paris and Montpellier where her military husband was stationed.I went to her little house,5 Hoffmann Street, everyday morning till late evening,Madame Trivella knew we were dead broke, gave me free lunch,a sandwitch, sometimes a full meal in the kitchen, feel bad the way we dumped her,she was a good teacher, but after two years I had to move on,wanted to learn the coloratura technique  all in all got some six hundred free lessons,Madame was the best, the most generous teacher I could hoped for when we landed in Athens .
My destiny started there, Mother was a very ambitious woman,go-getter but had no talent in any field,an actress manquee with raging hormones, wanted me to be what she wanted to be,pushed and pushed,I was thirteen, said I was sixteen so I could enrol at the National Conservatory, and apply for a scholarship.and study with the most famous coloratura of the time Elvira de Hidalgo.

ALONE IN PARIS

CITY OF LIGHTS
 10 January 1960

When I lost my voice I didn't do anything about it,was too obsessed with Ari,wanted to get pregnant,to keep him,to be his wife.Ari was the second best,I was after him because I had no voice left, and Ari was there, waiting, wanting the most famous Greek woman of her time
Friends in Paris mentioned the famous herbalist Maurice Messegue in Fleurance, south of France, others suggested the great Hungarian healer Oskar Estebany in Montreal, and Serge Alalouf in Toulouse, they
were the greatest in their field, the healers of the day, they could have helped.I was too obsessed with Ari,wanted to be part of the Jet Set to remain in the limelight, it was a craving.
After the December 1958  recital L' Opera de Paris offered me wonderful French mezzo parts Carmen ,Dalila,Juliette,Ophelie or anything I care to choose,French like Italian was created for singing.
I wanted to do it,the will was there, but not the strength, the energy,I was
chronically tired, since that fated night in Rome,I had severe inflammation of the vocal cords.
I love Ari,I am not men crazy like they say,one man at a time,I was,am and will always be possessed by that glorious demon of sound, music, will never sacrifice my voice,my career for anything nor anyone, certainly not for Ari.I took him back after his wedding with Jackie Kennedy ,didn't have the choice, didn't have
anyone else at the time.I coud no longer sing,I alone knew why,not the critics, not the Queen's cousin Lord Harewood, not Franco Zeffirelli, not the Pope,I alone knew, was too tired to fight back destiny.I lost my voice because of the inflammation of the vocal cords, which makes singing extremely painful ,inflammation is the first sign of any illness,I took too many medications, for chronic fatigue, low blood pressure,to sleep at night,to wake up in the morning ,they weakened my immune system,so illness set in.In 1960 I had only my maid Bruna to look after me,I was all alone.

LOVE AND HATRED IN ATHENS

LOVE IN ATHENS
Fat and poorly dressed ,I attract men,the rich and the famous, they were jealous!
---- How do you do it?
---- Le coeur a ses raisons que la raison ignore
--- What ?
--- C'est le coeur qui dicte,le c.. qui decide
--- I don't speak Chinese
--- It's Spanish

In the spring of 1943,I met Mangliveras during the rehearsal of Tiefland at the Olympia Theatre, I was twenty he was fifty-five,the most popular tenor of Greece, was married, lived with another woman and their two children.Love at first sight for both of us.I can't love a man unless I can use him, it's the dictate of my heart.
Why did I chose Vangelis,I could have got more from Sigaras,twenty-four,good looking, charming with lots of money, his old man who opposed our union died at the right time, when Takis wanted to marry me.
I liked him, loved him and had I married him I would become a rich Greek housewife and a part time soprano.
Vangelis and I wanted to shake the world of music, sang our hearts out, lived our love for all to see. There and then under the Greek skies ant the Parthenon,I realised that I could develop my latent, histrionic talents in my own unique way, through feelings, emotions. Love, despair, hatred all the gamut of the human spirit were at my command .I could colour my voice in a thousand ways, and anger motivated me,,I became the temperamental diva.
---La Callas is temperamental,so what,it's better that than Maria... Who?

With the success of Tiefland,my rivals, slandered, intrigued, spat their venom :

---You seduced him to get the part of Marta.
--- User ! You did it to move ahead
--- Go back to your country !

I was born in America of Greek parents, moved back to Athens when I was thirteen, the blood that runs through my veins is Greek,I was no stranger in their land,my land.

Never shall I forget their hatred
Never, ever.

LA STRANIERA

YOU LOVE ME, MARRY ME

"Les autres revent de ce qu'elles n'ont pas, je reve de ce que j'ai."
I think of Titta day and night,my guardian angel, the man I love. For the first time in my life I have financial security,no money worry, can concentrate on the goal, becoming the greatest singer of the world.Ferrucio Cusinatti, the Verona Opera chorus master, taught me all the operas of my repertoire, private lessons paid by Titta.Like Maria Trivella,he never got the credit he deserves.
I spend my day at the Accademia, have lunch at the Pavadena ,and wait for Titta till past midnight when he returned home, and we have dinner.
We talk, know that we are in love, can't imagine a life without each other.
He loves me,had family problems, doesn't want to commit himself, so I wait and wait .
They hate me,his folks, the whole town, they call me the gypsy.
--- Titta what are you doing ?
--- Don't you see she is built like a potato?
--- Can't you see how ugly she is,how clumsy?
---- Have you lost your mind, you're not yourself !
I  was La Straniera, fat, lonely and dead broke.Titta was twenty when his father died leaving his ten siblings under his care.He wanted to be a journalist, had dreams of travelling the world, gave up everything for his family. One of his brothers became a university professor, another a gynecologist,a third rose to the rank of general in the Italian army, his sisters married well,Titta bought a beautiful villa in Zevo,a suburb of Verona for his mother. He was a self-made millionaire, when they realized that he was in love and wanted to marry me,they flew into a rage, join forces against me.They knew that Titta had the genius, built up the family business ,without him it will collapse,They inherited a small factory from their father,a few men making bricks by hand in the courtyard and heating them in a kilt, the business grew to become one of the most successful businesses of the Veneto region, north of Italy, with twelve factories. After the war there was a demand for bricks to rebuilt houses,Tita saw the opening, went all out for it,and seized the opportunity.
The Meneghinis became rich and respected.
What Titta did for his family business he did it for me,instead of marketing bricks and building supplies,he marketed my voice, the Voice of the century.
He loved me,but money was more important than the woman, kept me waiting for two years, didn't want to commit before he was certain of the investment.

I was to sail for Argentina for my first tour..
--- I won't sail for Buenos Aires tonight unless we married. You say you love me,I want to be your wife.
The contracts were signed,a three month engagement, prestigious because Serafin will conduct,I became his wife at noon in the poorest little church of the town, I was not Catholic,we married in the sacristy,a consecrated area but not in the church proper. At midnight in tears and in agony,I sailed for Latin America,in retrospect I should have done the same thing with Ari in 1959.I became his mistress in August of that year, had I insisted I would have married me then. His wife, the young and beautiful and very rich Tina wanted her freedom, had another man in her life, didn't need his money, was an heiress in her own right..

THE CHOSEN

 MY VOICE, MY DESTINY
10  June 1965

I have visions, hear voices. When the music starts I become possessed, walk into another dimension the universe of music, live in a trance state,
The Emprise lasted twenty years,it was a gift from God,and what He gave He took it back.
When I lost weight I lost everything,my voice lost volume, range, and power of expression,God wanted me to stop singing,I did my share, another will take over.
--- Don't you agree ?
--- You 're demented  !
Ari was like that, he never loved the artist inside the woman, was jealous, with all his money he was nothing. I wonder if he ever loved me,

FETE DES MORTS 1 November 1975

FETE DES MORTS
1 November 1975

Ari dies ,what is there left for me, I can't live without him
1 November,Fete des Morts in France, walked aimlessy from tomb to tomb in Passy Cemetery in the morning, did the the same at Montparnasse Cemetery in the afternoon,Bruna and I each, two lost souls searching for his, carrying white roses and lilies calla , walking aimlessly, could not find his grave,he is in Skorpios, can't go there, don't want to run into Jackie, if she ever showed up.
--- Fat chance said Bruna
--" If he's anywhere,O God ,let him be at peace "

JE NE SUIS PAS UNE PUTAIN

MEN,SEX AND CREATIVITY
  20 November 1960

My men are older, rich,it's the way I like them.
Vangelis was thirty years my senior,Titta twenty eight,Ari
twenty-five,so what ?.
I didn't succeed through the casting couch,je ne suis pas une putain.
I use my sex drive,my raging hormones to go ahead, they are the fuel
that drive me,Mother was like that,over-sexed,but had no talent,no
in-born gift.I succeed where she failed.
My  war years in Greece gave me courage and tenacity, win or die,the more fun my rivals
had at my expense, humiliated me,the more determined I became,I wanted
to become the greatest to get even.Anger, hatred drove me,possession
set me apart and above.
This century had four genuises,Balanchine,Callas,Picasso, and Stravinsky .
--- They created,you interpreted
-- Oh,fool! Nothing is further from the truth,when I sing I create,listen to me !
An aria is a canvas,I paint with sounds,I create a landscape where you can
see the music, the drama,an aria is a moment in the life of a woman living, loving, suffering. And if you have the gift, you see the music as I do,I paint with my voice, with sounds.
